Nintendo Announces 1.4.3 System Update for DSi and DSi XL Consoles
A short time after Nintendo released the 1.4.2 patch for the DSi, a brand new update called the 1.4.3 firmware update was released on the 29th of June for users of the Nintendo DSi and DSi XL handheld consoles.
Some users say that the update was needed because of the newest 188.8.131.52 update on the sister 3DS console, to allow the transfer of DSiWare and other online content between the consoles. However, it’s more than likely that the update simply blocks quite a lot of popular homebrew flash cards including the R4i SDHC and R4i 3DS cards.
R4i 3DS Now Comaptible with Nintendo DSi 1.4.3 Firmware
On the 3rd of August 2011, the R4i 3DS card team released a firmware update for the R4i 3DS card that allowed the card to become compatible with the Nintendo DSi / DSi XL 1.4.3 firmware.
This update, however, is quite ingenious – using some of the same technology as the GamesEngine portal the R4i 3DS team operate, the actual R4i 3DS firmware update no longer requires the use of a .nds file. The process can actually be done (on a non-upgraded DSi or DS Lite) via your home’s very own WiFi connection!
